Surat Medical Store Owner Arrested for Selling Animal Feed as Baby Medicine

A Surat medical store owner faces charges after police allegedly uncovered the sale of an animal feed supplement as baby medicine. Nearly 1,000 bottles were reportedly sold over a year before an October 13 raid led to a seizure worth ₹31,195.

A medical store owner in Surat has been arrested for allegedly selling an animal feed supplement as medicine for infants and children by transferring it into smaller bottles and attaching fake labels. The accused, Mohammad Sajid Ibrahim Mulla, 51, operated Shri Shantinath Medical Store in the Gopipura area of Surat.

According to the details of the case, Mulla allegedly repackaged Himalaya Liv.52 Protec Liquid, a veterinary feed supplement intended for animals, into smaller bottles and applied counterfeit labels claiming that the product was meant for infants and children. The repackaged product was then sold to customers as medicine for babies and children.

The alleged operation continued for about a year, during which nearly 1,000 bottles were sold at double the normal price. The case came to light after the Surat Police’s Special Operations Group raided Shri Shantinath Medical Store on October 13.

During the raid, police seized materials worth ₹31,195. The seizure followed allegations that the veterinary product had been repackaged and misrepresented as medicine for young children.
